Equipment &Preparation
Before play (Craig) can commence you will need the following:-
|
A Tablet - |
A ball not too dissimilar to a size 4 football, brown if possible. |
|
A Fence - |
Which will take the place of a conventional net. This is traditionally constructed from three pillars (e.g. bricks) and two awnings (e.g. mops or broom handles)*. These items shall be arranged according to the illustration below:
If it is decided that the court should be wider than the above described example would allow (as is often the case in rural pheasant), the fence may be lengthened accordingly.
|
| A Court - |
Pheasant is a game of four quarters,
and as such the court should roughly resemble the following diagram:
The court boundaries may be demarcated by whatever means are available to the would-be pheasanteer. In the case of championship pheasant it is preferable to use tent pegs and twine, however as this method is clearly unsuitable for the urban pheasant arena the pheasanteer may wish to consider some sort of adhesive tape as an alternative. |
