October 2005

Tuesday the 25th of October

All over, so soon? Our four dates with Mew have been most enjoyable, and the bitterness of parting is sweetened slightly by the knowledge that we'll be back playing with them again in 2006, at a date and location to be revealed soon on these very pages.

Don't forget to buy those tickets for the launch of "Prodigal Son" here.

Tonight was our first date on a short tour with an excellent band of Danish chaps, called "Mew".

They make epic yet winsome music. It's terrific.

Shed a tear for Gaz, as tonight saw the last night we didn't hear from him. No doubt his ever-constant telephone calls shall become tiresome ere long... Nevertheless, in honour of his consistent lack of attendance at (or interest in) our club night, we saluted him in fine style with a lighter-wafting, local-hero-cover-version laden night of music. 'Twas good indeed.

SCANDAL! - Envy & Other Sins spotted engaging in drunken cavortings at the Diamond Rendezvous burlesque club. See the damning evidence here...

Friday the 13th of October

Another successful week in our campaign against those unenlightened in the ways of sin saw the fall of Nottingham and Coventry, as well as a homecoming parade at the Custard Factory following last week's victorious incursion into the Welsh territories. Monday also saw the return to the frontline of the legendary Red Bullit after she shook off her injury as though it were a mere trifle. However, it was not such a clever week for chief warbler Mr Flynn as he was tricked by a sorcerous wench into swallowing a packet of gravel prior to Thursday's appearance at the Colosseum.

Friday the 7th of October

Tonight we must journey to Cardiff by whatever means we can find. Perhaps we will have to break out Dobbin, who retired from pulling our trap some time ago. Unfortunately, the Red Bullit's run of bad luck continues. Not content with a nail deflating her rear horse shoe in Leicester, whence she was able to limp home, she has invalided herself more seriously through the strain of the journey to Bristol on Wednesday. After a marvellous evening's entertainment with the good Bristolians, we found ourselves stranded and reliant upon the goodwill of the R.A.C. to effect our passage homewards.

Nevertheless, we shall not be defeated, and will be in Cardiff tonight with Bromheads Jacket. However, Saturday's Kitestock in Aberystwyth has been postponed.

Sunday the 2nd of October

The Red Bullit has so far docked in Stoke, Leicester, her home port of Birmingham and last night in Liverpool. Our cargo of rock has been liberally unloaded at every port. Greetings and thanks to everyone who's seen us so far, and for all of you eagerly anticipating our arrival in your area, try to restrain yourself, impatience is not a virtue. Keep yourself abreast of the E&OS epidemic by poring over October's chart of Britain:-

We have just announced our Splendid Christmas Party - "Still No Yuletide Word From Gaz" in association with our co-hosts Murdoch, and Lordswood Old Dixonians. At this event you will be able to see many of the members of bands who have graced the Sunflower Lounge this year, playing in an all-star rolling Birmingham super-group! This not-to-be-missed occasion will take place on Saturday the 17th of December, at Lordswood Hall in Birmingham. Costume is strictly envious for all attendees, and tickets can be ordered direct from us by email.
